What payment methods do you accept?
Most of them, including credit, debit, tap and cash. See our terms for the full list.
Are you a non-profit?
No, we're a for-profit business. We do support Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, donating and lending a hand whenever we can.
Do you buy clothes?
Yes. We're usually open to buying at our popups. Check our Instagram to see if we're buying on a given weekend.
Do you take donations?
Yes. Bring your donations to any of our popups.
Where do your clothes come from?
We hand-pick everything from thrift stores across the Maritimes, New England and sometimes Quebec. We also find pieces on Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji and other second-hand sites, and buy from customers and other Halifax vendors.
How long have you been open?
Our first day open was July 17, 2022.
Who owns Metro Thrift Bus?
Co-founder Daniel McQuinn owns and runs the bus, and you'll find him there most days. Read more in our story.
Do you offer bundle deals?
Usually not. Our prices are already low, and as a small business we can't afford bundle discounts.
Can I make an offer on an item?
We keep our listed prices. If you spot damage we missed, like a stain, cut or hole, let us know and we may offer a discount.
Where can I see what's in stock?
We sometimes post previews of new items on our Instagram. The best way to see everything is to visit.
Is the bus open in the winter?
The bus closes from the last weekend of November until April, depending on the weather. In December you'll find us at Christmas markets, and through the rest of winter at popup markets around the city.
When is the bus open?
Bus popups usually run Thursday to Sunday, with hours depending on the location and weather. If bad weather closes the bus, we'll post about it on Instagram.
Are you affiliated with Halifax Transit or the city?
No. We're an independent small business with no affiliation with, or funding from, Halifax Transit or the Halifax Regional Municipality.
