What methods of payment are accepted?
We accept most forms of payment. See Methods of Payment.
Are you a non-profit company?
We are a for profit company. However, we do have ties to non-profits including The Grateful Wardrobe and Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. We donate to them when we can, and give them a helping hand when needed!
Do you buy clothes?
Yes, we do buy clothes. Check our website or Instagram to see if we are buying this weekend. We are typically open to buying at any of our popups, however we are always buying your gently used clothes every Friday at East Peak Climbing.
Do you take donations?
Yes, we do take donations. If you are interested in donating to Metro Thrift Bus, drop by any of our popups to donate.
Where do you source your clothes?
We hand select all of our clothing from thrift stores across the Maritimes, New England and ocassionally Quebec. We also find items on Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, and from other second hand online retailers. We additionally purchase from customers (see above), and from other vendors in Halifax.
How long have you been open?
We began our journey in July, 2022. Our first official day open was July 17th, a day we will never forget!
Who is the owner?
The co-founder, and current owner and operator of the Metro Thrift Bus is Daniel McQuinn. You can catch him most days at the bus. See Our Story for more about Daniel.
Do you do bundle deals?
We typically do not do deals. Our items are already reasonably priced. As a small business, we generally cannot afford to give bundle discounts.
Would you take …$ for this?
Occasionally, customers will make lower offers for our items. Without a valid reason, we will not change the listed price. If you notice that an item is damaged in any way that we may have missed (stains, cuts, holes, distress), please notify an employee, and we may offer a discount at our discretion.
Where can I see what's in stock?
We sometimes post previews of our available items on our Instagram.
In the future, we plan to open an online shop. Please check back for updates related to online shopping options.
Are you open during the winter?
The bus itself is closed from the last weekend of November until April (weather depending). However, during December we attend Christmas markets, and for the rest of the winter we try to attend other popup markets around the city.
When are you open?
We typically have popups Thursday to Sunday, with hours depending on location and weather. In the case of inclement weather conditions, we will announce closure for the day. Please check this site and our Instagram for updates regarding popups.
Are you affiliated with Halifax Metro Transit or the City of Halifax?
We are not. We are an independent small business with no affiliations or financial support from Halifax Metro Transit or the City of Halifax.
